Toledo, located on the western tip of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Maumee River, is the fourth largest city in Ohio and is at the center of a triangle formed by Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.

Comfortable Living
Toledo’s climate is comfortable, with summer daytime averages in the mid-80s and winter averages about 30° F. Typically, the temperature reaches 90° F or higher only 15 days a year and 0° F or lower only eight days a year. Snowfall, generally, is light.

Toledo and its 12 suburban communities offer excellent, affordable residential neighborhoods, with country living only minutes away.

Educational Excellence
More than 60 public and 50 parochial schools in Toledo, along with excellent suburban and private schools, provide special programs to meet children’s individual needs–from classes for those with disabilities to innovative accelerated programs for gifted students.

In addition, nearly three dozen colleges and universities are within an hour’s drive of Toledo, including the Medical University of Ohio and the University of Toledo. The University of Michigan is just 40 miles away.

A City Alive with Activity
In addition to being an exciting place to live and raise a family, Toledo also provides excellent opportunities for cultural enrichment.

Recent revitalization has resulted in new waterfront businesses and encouraged the growth of interesting and unique downtown restaurants. The Seagate Convention Center attracts national conventions and events. The Toledo Museum of Art is ranked among the best in the U.S., and the Toledo Symphony, the Toledo Ballet and Toledo Opera—as well as the delightful Toledo Zoo—provide excellent entertainment to suit all ages.

During summer months, Toledo comes alive. Every Friday evening, as many as 40,000 people gather on the waterfront for the “Rally by the River.” In August, the Lucas County Fair comes to town. The nationally known recreation spot, Put-in-Bay, is a nearby favorite of local residents. Just minutes from the shores of Lake Erie and less than an hour from beautiful lakes and scenic waterways, Toledo is a boater’s and fisherman’s paradise. Toledo bids farewell to summer each year with Riverfest, a Labor Day celebration of visual and performing arts.

Throughout the year, Toledo is a great place to play. Baseball fans can catch a Toledo Mud Hens Triple A game or see the Major Leaguers at the new Comerica Park in Detroit. Hockey fans can join the cheering for the Toledo Walleye, Toledo’s very own ECHL team. College football and basketball fans can watch big time games right in Toledo - or in nearby Ann Arbor, where the University of Michigan draws more than 100,000 fans each home game.

For serious – and not-so-serious golfers – Northwest Ohio boasts some of the best courses in the country. Toledo’s Inverness Club has been host to the PGA Championship, U.S. Opens and the U.S. Amateur Championship. Toledo also hosts the LPGA Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in August, as well as the annual Professional Bowlers Association National Championship.

There are more than 700 restaurants to choose from in the Toledo area, serving diverse ethnic cuisine ranging from Lebanese to Mexican, Greek to Chinese, and Italian to Polish.
