Welcome to the Mercy Health Partners (MHP) Transitional Year residency program. We are sponsored by St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and primarily based at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, a state of the art community teaching hospital, with additional rotations at St. Vincent.
Our rotations and teaching experiences are closely integrated with our primary sponsor, the MHP Family Medicine Residency Program. The Emergency Medicine and Surgery residency programs at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center also sponsor our program.
Medical students from our affiliated medical school, the University of Toledo Medical Center, and Ohio University complete their required clerkships in our hospitals.
As a Transitional Year Resident, you will actively evaluate and manage patients in the inpatient, ambulatory and emergency settings with an ideal balance between preceptor supervision and responsibility for patient care. You will be closely involved with your clinical teachers and gradually assume greater clinical autonomy based on your demonstrated learning. You will also learn the ACGME competencies as you advance in your residency training.
We are very proud of our Transitional Residency, having graduated 182 residents in multiple specialties over the years. We offer a top quality clinical experience in a strong academic setting, while being committed to excellence in teaching in a warm and friendly environment.
If you are looking for a well-rounded, high quality experience before you embark on your journey in specialty training, this is your future educational home.
As one of our graduates counseled a prospective resident, "Treat yourself to a good year."
I thank you for your interest in our program.
